    Duties & Responsibilities
    The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following: Compliance, Governance and Assurance • Set procedures in order to adhere to legal compliance within designated area according to Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 2.9.2 appointments • Adhere to effective Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) management systems for own job/for section • Responsible for health and safety of subordinates within area • Identify, analyse and evaluate hazardous conditions/practices • Investigate, analyse and report on accidents or incidents • Measure and execute safety audits and evaluate effectiveness of hazard control programs • Ensure compliance to health and safety policies and procedures • Hold regular safety meetings and implement action plans • Ensure adherence to all relevant Codes of Practice (COP’s) • Ensure subordinates’ statutory training compliance • Ensure compliance to good housekeeping standards Effective People Management • Lead and manage subordinates through visible and transformational leadership behaviour that facilitates superior people performance • Act as change agent to foster an environment where people are motivated and seek out better ways of operating team/sub-team processes • Motivate and inspire staff to excel at jobs • Manage and develop performance contracts for subordinates and ensuring alignment to overall service contracts • Ensure performance contracts and succession planning processes are deployed to support the creation of an enabling environment Optimisation and Efficiency • Drive Research and Development (R&D) initiatives to ensure Continuous Improvements (CI) and enhanced performance • Keep abreast of new developments and potential threats within designated area is identified and addressed timeously • Benchmark plant/mining activities and track performance to indicate improvement opportunities • Track performance to indicate improvement opportunities • To ensure that actual costs are within boundaries set by manpower and operational budgets Production Efficiency • Achieve maintenance targets • Ensure operational efficiency and quality • Assume responsibility for coordinating first line maintenance to limit plant or equipment downtime • Control stock levels (where applicable) Routine Work Management • Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of all plant and infrastructure machines, systems and equipment to limit failure and optimise production processes • Execute plant shutdowns and ensure compliance with housekeeping standards • Ensure that failure analysis is conducted on deviations and corrective actions implemented • Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met Safe and Healthy Work Environment • Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis • Address all unsafe practices/potential hazardous situations, rectify and report to superior • Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC)/technical requirements • Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times Behavioural Alignment Demonstrates the following: • Creativity, collaboration, sociable and awareness to the ecosystem • Stewardship, accountability, ability to develop trust, safety conscious and ethical • Ability to respond quickly to business needs/agility, flexibility, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embraces multiple cultures, accepts different approaches and be human-centric/empathetic •
