To partner with the Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Complex Solutions and product houses by supporting them in the preparation and submission of quality credit proposals.
To contribute to a consistently positive and seamless client credit experience by delivering an effective and efficient credit origination process, thus increasing the successful conclusion of deals within an allocated portfolio.
To partner with the Risk teams by ensuring that all risks are identified, articulated and mitigated appropriately in all credit proposals within the allocated portfolio.
•Manages the assigned portfolio on an on-going basis and is responsible for transactions within the portfolio - analyses the submission of credit proposals, to ensure that proposals meet the required criteria.
•Supports the Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Complex Solutions teams by preparing credit proposals and maintaining close and frequent contact with them and customers in support of their financial requirements.
•Provides detailed and relevant insights and analysis in order to support revenue growth and decision making.
•Identifies and actions opportunities for cross- and up sell.
Adheres to the customer engagement model in order to meet customer demand (conducts follow-up and/or information gathering visits).
Accompanies Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Complex Solutions teams where required to better understand the customer financial position in order to prepare credit proposals.
Prepares credit proposals providing sound financial and business justification for deals / proposals within acceptable risk parameters relative to the profitability.
Accompanies the Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Complex Solutions teams on client visits and meetings, to ensure that the credit origination requirements are identified early in the deal-making process and for the completion of quality credit proposals.
Where appropriate, coaches and upskills the front line on completion of credit proposals.
Stays visible and relevant within the business environment and community (brand ambassadorship).
Identifies and recommends actions to be taken on system conditions in order to eliminate waste.
Makes recommendations to the Head: Credit Solutions for input into Product development.
Identifies credit and risk management requirements at the initial stage of the deal negotiation / business evaluation interviews during deal negotiation to obtain sufficient and appropriate information to evaluate business risk and deal viability, from a credit risk perspective.
Assists the Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Complex Solutions teams by ensuring that credit risk is identified and contained within the risk appetite.
Complies with all applicable legislative requirements such as National Credit Act (NCA), Companies Act, Consumer Protection Act (CPA), etc.
Adheres to all internal risk related policies and guidelines.
Portfolio of evidence reflecting deals done, deal teams involved, success rate, deal concluded within customer’s expectations / timeline and opportunities identified within the customer’s ecosystem.
All credit applications need to include a client and deal ROE discussion and recommendation
Successful drive and usage credit management systems.
All covenants are appropriate, captured and accurately reflected / defined in the legal documents.
All collateral is appropriate, captured and accurately reflected in credit applications and that collateral valuation guidelines are adhered to
No repeat audit findings
Outcome aligned to overall Commercial Banking, PBB and Group financial metrics
Preferred Qualification and Experience
Finance and Accounting Degree
1-2 Years Experience in credit risk analysis and preparation of credit papers for corporate or commercial segment clients, with particular emphasis on complex credit proposals including cash flow analysis for leveraged lending deals. Sound experience in, and knowledge of, credit and compliance matters.
