Relevant Diploma qualification (3rd level) is ESSENTIAL.
Valid Code 08 driver’s license / own reliable vehicle.
Person must be able to speak, read, write English competently.
Strong computer skills (MS Office, Email / Internet).
3yrs+ previous experience as Shift Supervisor in a manufacturing environment (preferably rubber or plastics but not essential).
Supervise and control all operations in the mixing department in order to achieve required productivity and quality requirements.
Report to work station at appointed time with equipment required to perform duties safely and efficiently.
Receive and carry out instructions from management.
Liaise with Foreman from previous shift to establish problems or changes in mixing schedule to ensure continuation of mixing.
Check equipment safety devices (emergency stops, safety bars and stop wires) and scale accuracy at the
start of each shift and to keep records of such checks.
Ensure that all work stations operate correctly and efficiently.
Ensure that production and mechanical problems are sorted out without delay. This involves reporting
of problems to the Manager, submitting job cards and / or telephonic call-out for night shift breakdowns.
Identify and segregate non-conforming materials and participate in investigations and corrective action.
Ensure that finished compound pallets / bins / boxes are weighed and recorded accurately.
Monitor and improve the performance of the department.
Arrange substitute labour for absent employees.
Submit a shift report (productivity, rework, absenteeism, etc) to Manager on a daily basis.
Relieve in other areas when required.
Adhere to the housekeeping and safety standards of the company.
Implement and carry out instructions for the implementation and continuation of the quality management system adopted by the company.
