- Support the strategic operational plans in response to the industry, client driven and internal changes and working with the operations team in terms of requirement sourcing.
All business requirements needs to be documented, solutioned and signed off. The role will entail drafting requirement documentation with the person being the interface on allocated projects between Operations and the technical team
Become a business expert with deep content knowledge, deep understanding of industry developments to execute on the strategy through a number of projects aimed at achieving the IS Operation strategy.
Day to day support of Operations to enable them to focus on the day to day operational aspects including operational efficiencies whilst delivering agreed strategic solutions and representing Operations on New Product Committees (when applicable).
Accountable for delivering against the agreed Strategic Investor Services Operations book of work as well as translation of Standard Bank Group strategies and regulations into Operational Response which will enable the Investor Services business to meet, and in many cases, exceed financial and non-financial expectations. This includes managing stakeholders in terms of expectations and priority management against the Operations book of work.
Recommend and assist Investor Services Operations in implementing operational processes for new products and enhancements to the existing product set
Support Investor Services business aspirations in product development.
Key Responsibilities/AccountabilitiesStrategic Direction
Contribute to and assist Investor Services Operations through implementing the agreed Investor Services Operations / business book of work which includes regulatory/industry/client driven changes, and product development in line with the overall Investor Services strategy.
Alignment of Investor Services Product strategy and Investor Services Operational support strategy.
Translation of regulatory requirements into Investor Services Operations response (implement regulatory change within Investor Services Operations
Translation of International best practice and trends into an Operational response.Deliver and support
Responsible for Investor Services Operations strategy and plans, through effective relationships with the business sponsor, business release executive, portfolio managers, process owners, relevant business executives and other internal business partners and stakeholders that form part of the change delivery process.
Responsible for the changes required as part of business release implementation by assessing, analysing and understanding the change requirements. This will include preparing the workforce through assessing the impact of the business release and delivering appropriate communication and training as well as identifying and managing stakeholder groups.
Enable the resolution of escalated issues; for example, when change consultants are unable to implement change initiatives (i.e. training or communication) within a business unit, the jobholder will try and resolve the matter with the relevant stakeholders within the functional unit.
Represents Change on applicable Management Committee’s in order to provide progress and feedback or escalate/flag cases where business release change implementation deliverables will not conform to timelines, budgets or quality parameters.
Ensures compliance with associated Group Transactional Products and Services standards, methods and tools.
Develop and implement a revenue collection and debtors management strategy to standardise the processes across all presence markets;
Testing oversight and work close with IT testing team to ensure execution / assistance with test scenario input
Market and internal change management agenda and meeting deadlines
Involvement with system implementations that impact Ops in conjunction with IT.
Conducting and documenting an impact analysis which at a minimum covers:
Operational model impact document
Technical impact document which includes the technical changes required from a system perspective
Requirement sourcing and documentation management
Client impact document
Identifying value adds to clients from a model or change perspective
Identifying and documenting the risks
Engaging IT for solutions documents, costing, timelines etc
Operationalise the change in production / release managementWork with the feature teams to build what matters.
Actively participate in the Design Solution thinking
Attend product management meetings
Ensure Delivery within set budgets and timeframes in accordance to the change agenda.
Continuously check if delivery is still on track and escalates when applicable and detect risks at an early stage to ensure senior interventionLeadership and teamwork
Establish a strong working relationship with the respective Transactional Products and Services banking Product Management colleagues and Investor Services Operations including Regions, acting as a key consultant for Operational efficiencies / support within change / strategy.
Participation and contribution in industry / regulatory forums & events, whilst keeping abreast of ongoing global developments within Investor Services products.
Proactively support the development of product management and product knowledge skills/ awareness and expertise in Investor Services Operations.
Work closely with the Head of Business Support to provide effective and efficient support and solutions relating to change priorities.Monitor and Evaluate
Consolidate and report on performance of the Investor Services Operations and Change team against business release performance criteria
Monitor the resources performance and ensures feedback is provided at regular intervals and corrective action is taken where performance gaps are identifiedDrive and facilitate change management
Manage utilisation of Change team resources to meet the target, through establishing the demand forecast and managing the supply and demand of resources on the appropriate system.
Match and allocates change consultants, according to skills profile, to business release requirement.
Stay abreast of best practices and new developments in change management and relevant disciplines.
Maintain the perspective of a large scale and aligns actions and contributes to overall organizational strategy enhancement including learning’s from benchmarking activities and reviews
Understand and articulates the projected direction of the organization and how changes might impact Investor Services Operations
Is aware of the projected directions of the external environment and key differentiators vis-a-vis competition and uses this information to anticipate how these changes would impact Investor Services Operations
Align the business release change plans with the business’ release plans and timelines.
Display initiative in predicting possible problems and opportunities to set up contingency plans.
Plan and conduct impact assessments in order to minimise risks within the business release.
Plan the delivery of outcomes such as pro-actively establishing change initiatives, implementing business wide change frameworks, designing the future business and / or preparing people for the future and helping them to change.
Monitor changes in the operating environment and quickly acts upon potential resistance to change to the Standard Bank policies and procedures.Drive people management processes

The Investor Services Operations change role will sit on various identified forums, Investor Services Operations NPC, Regional GOVCO’s including Product value chain forums.
Ensure that Investor Services Operations have established and maintain an appropriate risk management model for identifying, considering and mitigating the risks ensuing from offering a new product in a given market.
Preferred Qualification and ExperienceQualifications
Undergraduate degree an advantage
Industry recognised qualificationsExperience
Experience managing through influence in a large organization
5-10 years of operations management experience in an investor services environment
Ideally gained experience working in multiple Operations environments i.e. risk, audit and compliance
Ability to analyse and document business requirements is recommendable
Understands TCS and Bancs platform. Hiport will be recommendable
High familiarity with Investor Services product set
Is aware of the functional aspects of the Bank, different banking products how they are supported.
Has an understanding of the technology systems used in Investor Services and the touchpoints into the rest of the organisation
Firm understanding of risk / compliance framework
