Description

Perform advanced data analytics to support Collections Strategy across the bank.  Ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of collections strategies across all areas of collections.

To be successful in this role; one will need to strike a balance between strategic thinking and actual hands-on analyses using tools such as SAS, SQL, etc. Individual must possess strong technical skills to turn data into actionable insights and have the ability to think about the big picture and connect the dots to evaluate how the insights impact the Collections environment

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Degree or relevant qualification with quantitative subjects

PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Post Graduate Degree or relevant qualification with quantitative subjects

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years’ experience in credit analytics environment within financial services with exposure to business

PREFERRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years’ experience in credit analytics environment within financial services with exposure to business

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Strong analytical skills:
  • Ability to logically go about analysing complex data in order to identify opportunities or risks from a collections point of view
  • Ability to co-ordinate and manage simultaneous data requests for analysis of varying size and scope
  • Strong technical skills:
  • Expert user of SAS, SQL, Excel, and other relevant data management software (e.g. Python)
  • Business Acumen:
  • Knowledge and understanding of retail banking
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational Collections and Payments environments within retail banking would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of regulations in the Collections and Payments environment would be advantageous

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • The position report to Senior Manager: Collection Strategy who then report to Head: Decision Analytics & Collections Strategy

KEY RESULT AREAS

Advanced Analytics

  • Execute advanced analytics to:
  • Investigate and identify opportunities or risks from a collections point of view
  • Get fit-for-purpose data driven solutions to inform strategy
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the strategies across the different areas of Collections
  • Execution of analysis through the utilization of the available tools including SAS, MS Visual Studio (SQL), MS Excel , Python, etc.

Ad hoc model building

  • Assist with strategic collection model building that falls into the scope of the Collections Strategy team
  • Sourcing and preparation of data for modelling purposes
  • Establishment of inputs into the models
  • Validating the accuracy of the models
  • Evaluating the impact on business outcomes
  • Assist with the operational implementation of the model

Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance

  • Liaise with the data and reporting team to enhance daily / weekly / monthly monitoring to incorporate new strategies
  • Interpret and write-up findings in monthly monitoring reports
  • Ensure that monitoring is in place as soon as a champion/challenger or new strategy has been implemented
  • Summarise and present findings and proposals in document or presentation format in a professional manner
  • Keep abreast of regulations in the Collections environment and ensure that all work done complies with it
