Description

    • FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
      • Enforce compliance to health, safety and environment procedures and requirements of the MHSA
      • Carry out Shiftboss duties as described in MHSA Regulation 2.15
      • Manage all applicable service providers and ensure that they are issued with the necessary tools and equipment to execute work safely
      • Conduct necessary workplace inspections to ensure strict adherence to the applicable COPs and SOP's
      • Ensure that Planned Task Observations (PTOs) are conducted for all people in your area of responsibility
      • Plan, schedule, and execute work accordingly and as per planning principles
      • Actively participate in Health and Safety structures and processes on the mine by operations in area of responsibility
      • Implement High Risk Work (HRW) controls in  area responsibility
      • Share and implement best practices in area responsibility
      • Show commitment to and ownership of safety initiatives
      • Ensure that service providers strictly adhere to applicable health and safety procedure
      • Conduct stock check and order mining material for delivery on time
      • Maintain discipline in area of responsibility
      • Ensure that safe productivity targets (QDCSM) are met on a daily basis
      • Use the Business Improvement Process (BIP) to implement QCDSM improvement initiatives
      • Assist in the development of a realistic budget for the area
      • Ensure that risk assessments are conducted prior to each task being performed
      • Be self-disciplined and adhere to all other relevant Sasol procedures and requirements

      Qualifications and expertise required

      • Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4 with Maths & Science
      • Permanent Blasting Certificate (for Fiery Mines)
      • Gas Testing Certificate
      • Flame Proofing certificate
      • Valid Red Ticket
      • Valid drivers' license
      • Relevant Conveyor belt training
      • SAP experience
      • Computer literate
      • A Mine Overseers certificate will be an advantage

       

      Specific experience required:

      • Minimum 2 years' experience on underground section conveyors
      • Experience as a Shiftboss for underground section conveyors and/or experience in managing service providers on section conveyors will be an added advantage
      • Applied Strata Control experience
      • Risk Management experience
